Back to School Book Favorites- Gingerbread Man Loose in the School

Back to school is a week and a half away for me!  I always feel like I am never going to have everything ready and in it’s perfect place.  However, I always have some tired and true first week of school activities that never fail me!  Today, I am linking up with Ciera at Adventures of Room 129 to share my Back to School Book Favorite!

I read many of the “classic” back to school books, but one became my favorite when I taught Kindergarten 2 years ago.  The book is Gingerbread Man Loose in the School. It is such a cute book!

Here is a synopsis from good ole’ Amazon!
When a class leaves for recess, their just-baked Gingerbread Man is left behind. But he's a smart cookie and heads out to find them. He'll run, slide, skip, and (after a mishap with a soccer ball) limp as fast as he can because: "I can catch them! I'm their Gingerbread Man!"
With help from the gym teacher, the nurse, the art teacher and even the principal, a deliciously sweet ending is served up for both the Gingerbread Man and the children who made him.
Teachers often use the Gingerbread Man story to introduce new students to the geography and staff of schools, and this fresh, funny twist on the original can be used all year long. Includes a poster with fun activities!
I thought this book lends itself perfectly for taking your kiddos on a tour of the school.  This is perfect for those nervous kindergarten (or Pre-K) students who are unfamiliar with their new environment.  We read the book and then I tell the kids that I baked them gingerbread cookies that morning, but the cookies escaped!  Insert {GASP!}  Of course we have to go on a hunt!
I tell them that we need to make a wanted sign incase someone else spots him first!
…or you can use this one already made!
After we search the office, media center, computer lab, cafeteria, and playground, we end back up in the classroom.  We find a plate full of gingerbread cookies waiting!  I ask a teacher close by to slip the cookies in the room when we leave.  this gives us the opportunity to tour the school and meet the staff in a fun way!  The kids always LOVE it!

When we return, we eat our snack and complete a Gingerbread Man book (included in full product)!

I am giving away a FREEBIE that includes the author, illustrator, and characters from the book!

You can get this FREEBIE {here!!} and the full product {here!!}

Monday Made It- FREEBIE Edition

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  We were quite boring and lazy which was GREAT!  We got out preplanning schedule and it is jammed packed.  I will be at the school all week next week getting everything ready.

So on to Monday Made It!  This week I am sharing 4 FREEBIES!!  I made all of these over the summer and thought I would share.

First up are my new student binder covers.  I love everything to be all matchy matchy in my room Anyone else?  I am using the blue/green for my boys and the purple/blue for my girls.  I made the black/white for those who would like to save their ink and print on colored paper or let your students decorate their own! You can grab them {here!}

Next is a coloring sheet that I am going to use the first morning.  I love to use something that students can do while I am talking with parents and getting morning routines in place.  It includes Pre-K-2nd Grade and you can get it {here!}

And lastly, I have a Reading and Math QR code website posters. Do you have those students who can never get the hang of finding or typing in websites quickly?  What about students that finished early and LOVE technology?  This is a poster that I am going to have in my listening center box for students to quickly scan and go to a website.  These say first grade,but most would be appropriate for K-2. You can find them {here!}

I hope you find something you can use this year with your kiddos.  As with any freebie it is always nice to leave feedback on the product and follow me!!

Have a great Monday and check out the rest of the link ups on…

Plan With Me Sundays- Erin Condren Giveaway!

It’s Plan With Me Sunday time!! This week is all about Back to School!  It is coming very soon for me and I know many others that will be starting in the coming weeks.

I am actually planning for the first week of August because that is when preplanning starts for me.  I found some free stickers from here to add to the stickers I made.

I made these with the intention of using them throughout the year for those BIG moments during the year.  Feel free to download!! Just copy to sticker paper, cut, and get organized in that planner!

So now on to the planning!

This week I am using the free stickers, Meet the Teacher sticker that I made, a letter washi (Dollar Tree), Skinny Washi (Michael’s), and pens.

Here is a close up of the stickers.  I JUST love the colors and the reminder that it is still SUMMER!

I started as I always do, covering up the words at the bottom with white out.  I do this so they do not show through the washi.  If you have a new EC Planner then the words are now gone!

This is after adding the washi…

I laid the stickers on top to see where I wanted them placed.

Here is the finished layout! I decided to cover the morning, day, night headings with the skinny washi.  I love it!

I did leave everything blank since this over a week away.  We have not received a schedule for preplanning, so I will be filling it in later.

One more calendar that I use daily is my family calendar.  We have this in our kitchen and it covers appointments, birthday parties, sports/after school activities, etc.  I used a frame, paint chip swatches, and a dry erase marker.  I made this waaay back in 2012 and showed how to make it on my personal blog.  You can check it out here if you are interested!

I hope you enjoyed this and can use the free stickers that I have made.  I really liked how these turned out, so if you have a need for a sticker that I did not add, leave it in the comments!  I will be making more and of course sharing them with you!

Don’t Forget to download my free stickers!

Monday Made It!

Hello friends!! I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for the ever popular Monday Made It!

Is it just me, or does the summer make anyone else feel super creative!?  I think it is the fact that I have nothing else taking up brain space (WORK!).  I have really been laying around at night thinking up more and more TPT products that I want to make.  So many in fact, that there is NO way I could possibly make all of them.  Then school will start back and my brain will be deprived of anything…anyone else?!

Well at about midnight I was thinking that I really needed to make Folktale Flipbooks!  It is the first unit we teach in Social Studies and I have fell in love with making FLIPBOOKS!  I just can’t get enough!

Here in Georgia, first graders have to learn Johnny Appleseed (what would we do in Sept. without good ole Johnny?), Annie Oakley (I dressed up as her in 6th grade Smile), Paul Bunyan, and John Henry.

Plan With Me Sundays- Planner Supplies

Happy Sunday everyone!! If this is your first time, Welcome!  Meghan and I post every Sunday all about our planners.  This week we are talking all about planner supplies.  Everyone has their favorites and I will be showing you mine!

This is my drawer of planner goodies!

Let’s take a closer look at my favorites!

I use sticky notes to add a to-do list and flags to mark important dates or appointments.
95% of these are from Target Dollar Spot!

Using scrapbook paper and punches is something new to me.  I bought everything at Michael’s, but I have seen them everywhere.  I punch and add with tape just like I would with a sticker.

Of course, no planner is complete with the use of pens!  These are my favorites!  Beware! Sharpies will bleed through the paper, so I use these on stickers or washi.

Stamps are quickly becoming a favorite!  They are cheap and can be found in any craft store or even Wal-Mart!

I use washi tape every single week.  I use it to decorate the sides of my planner and mark off the weekend. Again, it can be found almost anywhere!  I have bought some from Wal-Mart, The Dollar Tree, Target, and Michael’s. The holder is by Martha Stewart and sold at Michael’s.

supplies this week

I decided to keep it super simple this week!  I only used washi, a few stamps, sticky notes, and a flair pen!

This is what I ended up with this week. Super simple!  I will add in my menu plan {find out about it here} and other things that come up!

Many people have asked me how do I have the time to plan and make it cute.  Well Miss Abigail LOVES to use my planner supplies with me!  She LOVES stamps and this will occupy her for awhile!
I honestly spend no more than 20 mins. each week.

I thought I would include where I actually plan!  This is my home office!

I also wanted to show how I am going to use a cheaper planner for school!  I bought a planner from Wal-Mart and this is what I will use to write school related items.

I added my own cover!

I hope you enjoyed this Plan With Me Sunday and decided to link up!  Please check out everyone else!
